Females on the Frontline

Kurdish women have always played an important role defending their country.

History describes women fighting alongside men as well as leading armies as early as 605 BC. With the worldwide coverage of the war against ISIS, Kurdish female fighters have emerged as popular figures for their effectiveness and bravery in battle. Leading by example, they have also inspired millions of people around the world to stand up for women’s equality.

To celebrate Women's History Month this March, please join us in thanking these women for their strength, breaking gender norms, and fighting for freedom and equal opportunity.

The Turkish dictator have undercontrol many dimensions of the political power in Turkey and take in prison the serious rival of him ambitions, the HDP that created a big problem in the recent past with the lost of majority in Parliament, recently "solved".  "The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair, Figen Yuksekdag, was sentenced to a one year jail term on terrorism charges, Anadolu Agency reported on Tuesday (April 11).

Judicial sources told the Turkish state-run news agency that Yuksekdag was sentenced for “making propaganda for a terrorist organization.”

A court removed Yuksekdag from her seat in the Turkish parliament after she was upheld from her initial conviction on September 22 on terrorism charges.

The sources who spoke under condition of anonymity added that Yuksekdag also became ineligible for party-political membership after the court upheld the sentence in accordance with the constitution of Turkey.

HDP co-leaders Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag were jailed pending trial on November 4 after refusing to give testimony in a probe linked to “terrorist propaganda”.
